Thin is Virtualization
Virtualization is an adaptation of virtualized server technology. Here a thin layer of software is inserted between the server hardware and the operating system. This layer supports the management of multiple virtual machines within the server each virtual machine with its own operating system and applications.
Enterprise Desktop Virtualization takes this one step further, by putting ultra-small, completely secure thin clients on the desktop, and linking the thin clients to their own virtual desktop machines residing on servers. With desktop environments consolidated within the data center, organizations can deliver secure, isolated desktops that are always on. And each thin client is centrally managed and accessible from anywhere on the network. This allows IT departments to:
- Reduce PC maintenance costs
- Increase security
- Deploy full PC desktops on centralized servers
- Set up workgroups and entire departments in minutes
